Wall of Shame

If you’re going to copy verbiage from another company’s website, be sure you remove all references to said company before you publish it on your own site.

This brought me lots of LOLs last night. Normally I wouldn’t call someone out on something minor like this, but the fact is that I’ve had problems with this company in the past. Some people never learn. It’s one thing to be inspired by someone else’s work; it’s another thing to copy it. Copying is not cool!

Update (7/15/09):  Apparently I’m not the only one having trouble with Fritzer Designs. Check out Lisa’s blog, A House Full of Moxie, to read about her experience with this so-called web designer. She makes a very good point – if a designer (and I use that term loosely) will copy another person’s work and use it for her own website, how can you be sure the site she designs for you doesn’t contain elements (graphics, HTML, CSS, etc.) taken from someone else. She could be putting your business and your reputation at risk. Please do your homework before choosing a web designer – make sure he or she is reputable, experienced and trustworthy.

Hi Tina! Sorry to hear about your experience. That is exactly why I don’t register domains for my customers. I always refer them to Godaddy to register themselves so that they have 100% control over their domain. Hope you get some resolution!

  2. Tina Says:

I hired Fritzer Design to design two websites for me a few years ago. I found out that I DO NOT OWN my domain name. I am only the administrative contact and not the owner. The person listed as the registrant is the owner – Fritzer Design, Avie Fritzer. I was told if I wanted my log in information that Avie would not provide, I would have to 1)get the information from the owner – Fritzer Design or 2)purchase a new domain name. How is that possible when I pay the yearly fees? I was forced to purchase a new domain name.

Hi Elizabeth and Linette. I had the same problem with Avie. I payed 1,000 dlls in january. She didn’t communicated with me. I live in Mexico and have no idea if i can file a complaint and what is BBB?

    Please someone help me.

  4. Elizabeth Says:

Thanks all…I am in the process of filing a complaint w the BBB and my lawyer is advising me too. I have used up my budget for the site so I can’t pony up for the next leg at this point. I understand the changes I want made are so simple that if I just get the access code i could make them myself. Of course, Avie doesn’t respond to ANY requests. I wouldn’t be so crazy over this if the slideshow on the home page worked! Suddenly it has stopped so you just get a big blank space w my logo. ugh.

  5. Lynette Moore Says:

Elizabeth, I filed a complaint with the BBB and also with my bank due to the fact that my services were never rendered. If you had a due date set and it has come and gone you too can file a complaint with your bank for a refund. Don’t let this person (company) get you down there are some really great graphic designers out there that can finish your project! Good Luck!

  6. Amy Says:

Elizabeth, How much is left to be done? Perhaps you can just hire someone to finish up – rather than starting over from scratch. Good luck to you :o)

  7. Elizabeth Says:

This post was found too late for me too. I purchased a website in May and here it is November and still not completed. She put in a lot of time but what is lacking is communication and follow-through! This has seriously hurt my business. I feel overwhelmed that i am going to have to start this process over!

  8. Amy Says:

So sorry to hear about your experience Lynette! Hope you are able to get it resolved.

This post was found to late for me:( On September 24th I purchased a package from Fritzer Designs for label, hangtag and postcard design. On October 30th I finally received a brief communication from Avie stating that she had been sending proofs via email (but of course I had received NOTHING). She stated she would resend – as of today I have received NO PROOFS OR COMMUNICATION on my project. I have left at least a dozen messages via phone and email asking what the status is but no response has ever been given. I am so surprised this is how her business is conducted. I have asked for a refund. My attorney has advised me to give her 3days to comply… what a joke, what a scam! This is not a person to do any sort of business with.

Seems you are not the only one Fritzer likes to rip-off… http://www.ahousefullofmoxie.com/2009/07/oh-you-should-be-ashamed.html

Totally wish there was some way to report designers to some regulating agency when they pull this crap

Your work is awesome! Don’t let the losers (who can’t design with their own ideas) get you down ;)

  11. Amy Says:

Thank you for your kind words, Julie! Best of luck to you :o)

  12. Julie Collinge Says:

I found you through twitter. I can see why you were plagiarized, your work is great! Of course I am not excusing the copy cat! I’m currently learning web design and find it very challenging. I am inspired by your work and hope to be able to do what you do some day!

    Cheers!
    fellow designer
